Fiesta Time!

The kids school had a Fiesta last Friday.  The kids had been waiting all week for it!

They didn't want to go to the booths.

We had to force them to eat ice cream cones.

Then we had to force them to eat their pizza and drink their soda.

They only wanted to go on the bouncy houses!  That's their fav.!

To them buying the food was wasting good tickets on something that they could not jump on/in.

When the tickets ran out they spent some time playing on the playground.

They all had a great time.  Even dad came! He took most of the pic.s. Thanks pa!

Spring Break!

Last week was the boys Spring Break.  We did a few fun things to occupy their time and spend some quality time together (most of which I forgot to take pic.s of). We went to the Mesa Public Library.  Each of the kids signed up for their very own library cards, checked out a book, and a video each.

We went to the dollar theaters and watched Tin Tin which they all absolutely loved! We also went and played some disc gold with daddy. Obviously we went to the Gilbert Riperian Reserve which we have dubbed, "the hiking park". It was a nice day. The park is quite large and we needed to stop for breaks every so often.

Exiting one of the trails is a canal way with some ranch homes with acreage. They kids were able to see some real live horses up close and pet them as well. They couldn't believe how big the horses were.

We also were able to see quite a few wild flowers. The orange ones are my fav.

Pinewood Derby Here We Come!

Ethan was super excited about his first ever Pinewood Derby! His cub scout leaders are AMAZING! They made all of the boys Pit I.D. badges and stands for their cars. They even made all of the boys medals that were made out of licorish whips and the ends held together with a york for the medal.

Here they are doing a test run.  All of the boys designed and painted their own cars.  James helped assembling the tires and adding the weights.  James was very excited as well!

Before we went we told Ethan to be a good sport and to just have fun!

He did have fun and he was very excited each time he did win.

Ethan scored second place! Great job bud we are so proud of you!!!

Chicky chicks

So. . . . . since our chicks were all killed we went out and got some more.  Call us crazy (because apparently we are)! I plan on spending ZERO more dollars on anything chicken related for this year.  That being said, our new chicks are so tiny, and fluffy, and cute! I can't wait until they are grown and I don't have to buy eggs anymore.  Looks like it won't be until the end of summer though.  Uuugh.

Harmon Chicken Massacre

Joe (James' bro in law) is in town for business. He came over yesterday to play some disc golf. We took him in the back to show him our chickens to find that Rose killed most of them. We have four out of 12 left. The kids were very upset, however, Eva was the only one to cry.

I read on an online forum that the only way to break dogs of this habit is to tie one of the dead chickens around the dogs neck and leave it that way until it rots off. Rose is much to small for that so I wrapped a chicken with chicken wire (so she can't eat it) placed it in her kennel with her and only let her out to relieve herself and to eat. Which means that she will be outside for the next week so that the house doesn't smell.

Rose is an inside dog so she is not too happy about being left outside. Hopefully this will break her of it.

After we cleaned up the mess we did go and play with Joe. Thanks for helping us and we sure had fun playing disc golf with you!!

Barn Raising

James started building our chicken coop.  It kinda felt like a pint sized barn raising!

James just has to do 1 more wall, a door, the roof, and nesting boxes.
